In a shocking turn of events, Marius Borg Høiby, 27, the son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, has been detained by Oslo police on allegations of rape. Though Høiby does not possess an official title or perform any royal duties, he is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, heir to Norway's throne.

Police confirmed on Tuesday that Høiby faces charges related to sexual intercourse with an individual who was "unconscious or otherwise unable to resist." While he denies the allegations, he is also accused of offenses involving four additional victims. According to law enforcement statements, the current rape charge pertains to an encounter lacking intercourse, where the victim was reportedly "unable to resist."

Local reports indicate that Høiby was arrested late Monday evening while in a vehicle with a separate victim, leading to increased scrutiny of his behavior. His charges were expanded to include violence and criminal damage related to an incident on August 4, along with "maltreatment" in intimate relationships and violations of a restraining order against the same victim. Further complications include a reported infraction for driving without a valid license.

Norwegian authorities also took the step of searching Høiby's residence at Skaugum, located near the home of the Crown Prince and his wife. His history includes prior charges of abuse against ex-partners and making threats against another individual.

The royal palace has opted not to comment on the ongoing legal issues faced by Høiby, as the community watches closely for further developments in this serious matter.
