Queensland firefighters warned residents not to touch the objects, describing them as 'potentially hazardous' and noting that they may contain flammable or reactive substances. Police and hazardous-material teams have sealed the area with orange tape and shipped the spheres to a lab for analysis.

Similar incidents have been reported in other countries: a 2023 metal dome washed up on a Perth beach that was linked to an Indian rocket, and a 2011 spherical object found in Namibia believed to be a hydrazine fuel tank.

So far, no agency has confirmed the spheres’ exact source. The Australian Space Agency is coordinating with maritime authorities to obtain detailed data on their trajectory, composition, and possible origin.
