Ukrainian suspect hunted across borders after Monaco parcel bomb
Interpol has issued a red notice for 39‑year‑old Ukrainian Anastasiia Berezovska, who is alleged to have planted a parcel bomb in Monaco that injured three residents, including a thirteen‑year‑old child.
Monaco's deputy public prosecutor said the suspect disguised herself as a man, wearing a dark bucket hat, and may have had accomplices. The blast happened inside the entrance hall of an apartment building on Monday evening, injuring a couple, a teen and a child.
Berezovska now faces charges of attempted murder, placing an explosive device with criminal intent, and criminal conspiracy. She is wanted by Interpol and has been listed in a red notice, which includes allegations that she has a snake‑shaped tattoo on her right arm.
Authorities in Germany are searching her rented apartment in the Main‑Taunus district for evidence, seizing a vehicle she had used and stating that the evidence will be handed over to Monegasque investigators. Meanwhile, police in Monaco and France have worked closely to identify the suspect and any possible accomplices in a short time.
The victim was a former Ukrainian citizen, now a Cypriot real estate developer with major interests in Crimea, who was severely wounded. He was taken to Nice University Hospital; the child suffered minor injuries at Lenval Children's Hospital. Prince Albert II described the incident as a heinous crime.
The hunt continues as the woman remains on the run, and an international arrest warrant has been issued. The case underscores the clash between Ukrainian oligarchic interests and international security concerns.
