In brief

Russian defense ministry said its forces carried out a night‑time strike on Ukrainian energy installations, including thermal power plants, substants and port facilities. The attack, using precision‑guided weapons and attack drones, caused outages in several Ukrainian regions, with 130 settlements losing power and heating and public transport suspended in Kharkov. Ukrainian authorities report ongoing disruptions.

In an overnight attack on November 3, Russia's Defense Ministry announced that its forces struck Ukrainian energy infrastructure linked to military‑industrial enterprises, including thermal power plants and substations in Vinnytsia, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov, as well as port facilities in Odessa.

The strike, reportedly carried out with precision‑guided weapons and attack drones, also set fire to two bulk carriers in the Black Sea that were carrying military and dual‑use cargo.

Ukrainian local authorities have reported that approximately 130 settlements in the Zhytomyr region have lost electricity, while heating and public electronic transport services were suspended in Kharkov. Outages were also documented in Kyiv and Dnepropetrovsk, the officials said.

The Defense Ministry stated that the targeted installations supplied power to military‑industrial enterprises, suggesting the attack aimed at reducing the region’s military logistical capabilities.

These disruptions come amid ongoing conflict, with energy infrastructure repeatedly cited as a key target for its strategic impact on both civilian and military operations.
