In brief

On 31 October in Berlin, Fabio Silva struck in the 89th minute to level the Bundesliga Klassiker, handing Borussia Dortmund a 2‑2 draw against Bayern Munich and keeping both clubs unbeaten with 18 points. Key Bayern injuries and a flurry of missed chances shaped the match, while Dortmund’s captain highlighted the team’s resilience.

In Berlin on 31 October Friday, Fabio Silva scored in the 89th minute for Borussia Dortmund, forcing a 2‑2 draw against Bayern Munich and denying the German champions a win in the Bundesliga Klassiker.

The match began with Michael Olise hitting the post at 10 minutes, and Bayern had early chances that fell short. Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham had a goal disallowed for offside following a VAR review after a mis‑pass by Dayot Upamecano. In the 34th minute, a combination involving Konrad Laimer and Felix Nmecha produced a goal that was initially awarded to Laimer before the referee overturned it as the ball was deemed to have gone past the backline.

Bayern suffered successive injury setbacks in the second half as Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry were forced off, weakening the German side’s attack and defence. The injury crisis left Bayern with a smaller squad as the match progressed, and they were unable to maintain their early advantage.

Dortmund captain Nico Schlotterbeck said:

We played a decent game. We were good in the first half, and in the second half we rewarded ourselves and pressed well. Bayern had chances with the penalty and hit the woodwork three times, but overall, it was a good performance from us.

The 2‑2 draw leaves both teams unbeaten on 18 points after eight matches, with Bayern topping the table on goal difference. Elsewhere in the league, Freiburg edged Augsburg 2‑1 to move to 16 points, and Leipzig rounded off a 2‑0 victory at Schalke to climb to fourth place.
