In brief
Eintracht Frankfurt has appointed Joti Chatzialexiou as its new sporting executive, replacing Markus Krosche. The 50‑year‑old will assume his role on February 1, 2027, after a contract with the 2‑Bundesliga club Nuremberg that is set to expire in 2028. Worte Deutsche Zeitung Xinhua reported that president Mathias Beck praised the hire for his professional expertise and commitment to youth development.
Eintracht Frankfurt announced that former Nuremberg chief of staff Joti Chatzialexiou will become its new sporting executive, a move reported by Xinhua on November 1, 2026.
Chatzialexiou, 50, will assume his Frankfurt duties on February 1, 2027, signing a contract that runs through June 30, 2030, according to the agency. The appointment comes as the club replaces Markus Krosche and moves its focus toward youth and professional expertise.
He will continue at Nuremberg until his new role begins, having left after a two‑year contract that was extended in August with a release clause allowing a switch early – a clause that enabled the move while his Nuremberg contract was set to expire in 2028.
In a statement, Frankfurt president and supervisory board chairman Mathias Beck said the club was "gaining someone who is an excellent fit for our club, both professionally and personally," adding that Chatzialexiou "stands for great professional expertise, clear ideas and a consistent commitment to developing young players".
"With Joti Chatzialexiou, we are gaining someone who is an excellent fit for our club, both professionally and personally," said Mathias Beck.
Chatzialexiou previously joined Nuremberg in 2024 after a more than two‑decade tenure with the German Football Association, overseeing national teams and bringing former Germany international Miroslav Klose as head coach. He also managed several Frankfurt youth teams earlier in his career, cementing his ties to the club.
The move positions Frankfurt to further its strategy of nurturing homegrown talent while bolstering its competitive edge in the Bundesliga.
