Police from Saudi Arabia’s Agency for Security Regiments Affairs in the Jazan region detained a local citizen on Sunday for driving a vehicle that allegedly carried two individuals who had violated the Border Security Law.
Legal procedures have been initiated against all parties involved: the two violators have been referred to the competent authorities, while the driver has been handed over to the Public Prosecution. The agency confirmed that the suspects will face further legal proceedings.
In a statement, the Agency reiterated the severe penalties for aiding borderline violators, noting that “facilitating the entry of individuals who have breached the Border Security Law, transporting or sheltering them, or providing them any form of assistance carries penalties of up to 15 years in prison and a fine of up to SAR 1 million.” The statement also added that the vehicle used for the transport may be confiscated and the offender’s name publicly named.
Officials urged residents to report any violations of residency, labor, or border security regulations by dialing 911 in Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions, or 999 and 996 in all other regions. All reports would be handled with strict confidentiality; those reporting violations would bear no liability.
The incident underscores the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing crackdown on border security breaches and the legal framework aimed at deterring such activities.
