In brief

A missile strike overnight in Kyiv killed one person and injured six, damaging residential buildings, a kindergarten and the Pivnichnyi Bridge. Ukrainian authorities blame Russia, while the Russian Defence Ministry claims the assault targeted military-industrial and energy facilities. Both sides accuse each other of harming civilian infrastructure despite ongoing war.

A missile attack overnight in Kyiv on 7 November 2026 killed one person and left six injured, with damage reported to residential buildings, a kindergarten and the Pivnichnyi Bridge, Russian and Ukrainian officials are trading accusations of civilian targeting.

Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said the strike hit an unspecified number of residential structures in the Solomianskyi district and a kindergarten, initially reporting three injuries before updating the figure to six; it added that damage had also occurred in the Darnytskyi and Sviatoshynskyi districts. The agency cited damage to the Pivnichnyi Bridge and closed traffic as specialists assessed the extent of the breach.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko accused Russia of using ballistic missiles to target civilian infrastructure and said energy facilities in the Kyiv and Zhytomyr regions had been damaged overnight, complicating heating and water supply for city residents. He noted that city crews are working to restore services.

Head of the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, reported that one person was killed in the broader Kyiv region following strikes that targeted five districts. Ukraine’s Air Force said it intercepted 149 out of 172 drones and four ballistic missiles during Russia’s overnight attacks, many directed at the Kyiv region.

The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed launching a “massive” strike on Kyiv, stating it targeted the military‑industrial complex, energy sector and transportation infrastructure, and claimed the facilities were used by Kyiv to support Ukrainian armed forces.
