In brief
The Johor‑Singapore Special Economic Zone reached US$21.8 B in approved investments between January 2025 and June 2026. About 45% of that investment has already been implemented, creating roughly 29,000 potential jobs, officials said. The milestone was announced at the first meeting of the Johor‑Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee, underscoring renewed cross‑border cooperation.
In a joint statement released on Monday, Singapore’s Ministry of National Development and Malaysia’s Ministry of Economy announced that the Johor‑Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS‑SEZ) has secured US$21.8 B in approved investments between January 2025 and June 2026.
The statement said that 45 percent of the approved investments – around 40.3 billion ringgit – have already been implemented and that the projects are linked to 28,755 potential employment opportunities, with 12,796 jobs already created by implemented projects.
The milestone was welcomed at the first meeting of the Johor‑Singapore Cooperation Ministerial Committee in Singapore on Monday, where the two countries reaffirmed their commitment to accelerating the development of the economic zone.
The JS‑SEZ was established under an agreement signed by Malaysia and Singapore in January 2025, aiming to attract investment by combining the availability of land and lower operating costs in Johor, Malaysia’s southernmost state, with Singapore’s strengths in financial services and infrastructure.
Officials highlighted that the approval of such a large investment pool reflects growing confidence from investors and the effectiveness of the zone’s incentives, according to the joint statement.
