In brief
Singapore’s National Environment Agency announced that it will end its haze mitigation measures after a sharp drop in regional haze activity and improving weather forecasts. Mask distribution and air‑conditioned soot shelters will close at 6 p.m. Saturday, while Ministry of Manpower and Ministry of Health will lift haze‑related precautions and schemes in the coming days. Air‑quality readings remain in the moderate range, and showers are expected to clear the haze over the weekend.
Singapore announced it will lift its haze mitigation measures as improving weather conditions and a decline in regional haze activity lower the risk of transboundary haze, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said on Thursday, citing a 24‑hour Pollutant Standards Index of 56‑64 and normal one‑hour PM2.5 readings as of 7 p.m. local time on Thursday.
Mask distribution at community clubs, public transport hubs and other designated venues will end at 6 p.m. local time on Saturday, the NEA added, and air‑conditioned haze shelters at community clubs and selected residents’ centres will also close at the same hour.
The Ministry of Manpower will lift haze‑related precautions for outdoor workers starting from that same date, effectively returning workers to normal outdoor work schedules.
The Ministry of Health will deactivate the Public Health Preparedness Clinic Scheme and the Haze Subsidy Scheme from 12 Nov, cutting back on healthcare measures that were put in place during the peak haze period.
Weather forecasts for the weekend indicate showers and variable winds will suppress haze in Singapore and the surrounding region, giving authorities confidence that haze conditions have improved enough to discontinue the measures.
