Singapore will open three new Mass Rapid Transit stations on Dec. 26, the Ministry of Transport announced on Wednesday, according to Xinhua. Minister for Transport and Second Minister for Finance Jeffrey Siow named the new stations as Bedok South on the Thomson‑East Coast Line, Xilin on the Downtown Line, and Sungei Bedok, an interchange connecting the two lines. Siow said the new stations would link two major rail corridors, giving commuters in eastern Singapore more travel options and shorter journey times.

In his speech at Singapore Urban Mobility Week, Siow also outlined future expansions, noting that the Jurong Region Line is expected to open in mid‑2028 to provide western residents with quicker rail access, and that the Cross Island Line should be completed in the 2030s. He added that Singapore’s current urban rail network spans 275 km across eight lines.
